Robert Munro joined ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ as Lecturer in 2018, having completed his PhD in Film Studies earlier that year, also at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥. Robert previously taught undergraduate Film and Media Studies at ³ÉÈËÖ±²¥ from 2015 to 2017.Ìý
Robert is the Programme Leader for the BA (Hons) Film and Media programme, as well as the PG Cert in Film and Screen Education [link]. He is the Associate Editor of the Film Education Journal. He is currently preparing an edited collection for the Edinburgh University Press ReFocus series on the films of Anthony Mann.Ìý
Robert’s research interests have mainly focused on Scottish cinema, investigating issues of literary adaptation, film production, representation and cultural policy within a small national cinema. Robert is also interested in research into the provision and effectiveness of film and media education in Scotland, particularly outside formal education settings.Ìý

- 2019: £11,571 (Screen Scotland) – ‘Raising Literacy Through Film Archives’: A film education project with five teachers resulting in a free educational resource made in collaboration with the National Library of Scotland and Into Film
Robert teaches on undergraduate and postgraduate modules focused around Film and Media and has a variety of teaching experience. He has previously taught on modules such as Introduction to Film Studies, Media Consumption, Media Industries, Film Genre, Narrative and Representation, Contemporary Hollywood, Crime Fiction, World Cinema and Independent Research Project. His elective modules are Scotland on Screen and Video Essay.Ìý

Robert is interested in supervising PhD projects in the areas of film practice, film and media education, film genre and Scottish film and screen industries. His current students are:Ìý
