Students Working in the Kitchens at Atholl Crescent
This cine footage, found in the 成人直播 archive, shows students in the kitchens at Atholl Crescent using steam ovens (in this case to cook potatoes).
There were at least ten kitchens at Atholl Crescent. This allowed numbers in classes to be kept small, necessary for safety reasons - no more than twelve students would be here at any one time. As well as a lecturer, each class had an assistant, known as a kitchen maid.
The kitchen maid鈥檚 role was to maintain the main kitchen and scullery. One anecdote from a past student is of one kitchen maid, who had previously been a Newhaven fishwife, who couldn鈥檛 bear to witness the students' attempts at filleting fish.
